The Paradox of Affection
Monday, June 29, 2009
I sat by a swing and looked across the cityscape
On the 30th of a cold November night
Your words of adoration kept me warm
There was a waterfall of feelings inside me
Your spectacles seemed to blur a little
My emotions seemed to spill too much
Can you measure my patience with your ruler?
'Cause I can't paint your feelings with my paintbrush
You're a superhuman that is ironically weak
That actually sweeps me off my feet
A half- vampire and a half- cactus
Either you'll bite me or I'll get pricked
I realized wanting you is like freefalling
From the top of a 45-storey building
The instance in the air feels like flying without wings
By the time I collide against earth, I'm dead
I asked you for a flower- a white one
But you gave me a gold one instead
It wasn't meant for the flower vase, though
It was meant for my taste buds- sweet.
If you'll carry my purchase from the bookstore
I'd give you a burger instead of fish balls or spam
I'll even teach you how to play in an arcade
But keep your promise to bring me home by train
If we fall in love with our music
Would you be playing your guitar again?
'Cause when you do, I'd sing for you
The song that was playing in my heart.
If you've learned to turn your world upside down
That's how you'll know I miss you
When you've built the glass house in sapphire blue
Wait for me in the outer space, I'll marry you..
